David and Doris Andrews are natives of Virginia. After a brief courtship of seven months, David and Doris were joined in holy matrimony on July 1, 1978. After more than 30 years of marriage, the couple still say "We are on our honeymoon." To this union, two fine sons (Derryck and Dominique) were born and one grandson, Darian.
David was ordained as a deacon in July 1983 under the leadership of the late Bishop Eugene Brown, Sr. of the Eastern Diocese Church of Christ (Holiness) USA, headquarters in Jackson, Mississippi. He is a preaching Deacon and serves at Future Church of Christ (Holiness) USA in Richmond, Virginia. He is one of the pioneers who assisted Elder Maurice Nicholson, the founder and pastor of Future Church, in the birth of this fine local assembly at 5545 Warwick Road in Richmond, Virginia. This ministry began in July 1984.
On Sunday mornings, David can be found teaching a class of teenagers during the Sunday School hour. He is also a trustee, youth worker, counselor, choir member, and works with the van ministry.
At year end, members of Future Church vote for the most dedicated worker during the course of the year and the person's name is announced at our Annual Christmas Banquet. David has received two awards for the most dedicated pastor's aide worker, one for the most dedicated choir member, and in December 2004, he received the "Man of the Year" award.
For the past ten years, he has been teaching Bible Study at The Renaissance, which is a Home for Senior Citizens, located in Richmond, Virginia. On Monday nights, his students enthusiatically await to receive an anointed word from him which comes directly from the power of the Holy Spirit. Many of his students have commented on how they have learned more under his ministry than they have in their entire lifetime. We praise God for His anointing because He gave some apostles...and some, pastors and teachers for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ" Ephesians 4: 11-12.
Doris was licensed as a Missionary in November 1988 under the leadership of the late Bishop Eugene Brown, Sr. of the Eastern Diocese Church of Christ (Holiness) USA, headquarters in Jackson, Mississippi. At Future Church of Christ (Holiness) USA, Richmond, Virginia, she serves as a missionary, sunday school teacher for the extended adult class, counselor, deaconess, youth teacher, youth worker, altar worker, sanctuary praise leader, choir member, and publications administrator. On Monday nights, when David is not available to teach the Bible Study at The Renaissance, she substitutes for him.
In April 2004, she was elected Leadership Advisor for the Youth Conference of the Eastern Diocese Church of Christ (Holiness) USA under the leadership of Bishop Lindsay E. Jones. In August 2004, she was elected President of the United Christian Women's Ministries for the Eastern Diocese Church of Christ (Holiness) USA.
At Future Church, she received the "Teacher of the Year" award in 2001 and 2002, and "Woman of the Year" award in 1996, 1998, and 2004. Although Doris wears many hats, her greatest joy comes when God uses her in a unique way to minister His word. Her pastor, Elder Maurice Nicholson, says she is a "practical" teacher, one who explains the scriptures so people of today can understand them.
In December 2004, God commissioned the Andrews to start a business to publish participant's guides to remind His people of the great things He hath done and to let them know that he is still looking for a church without spot or wrinkle. In this troubled world, many have forgotten that God said, "I am the Lord, I change not" Malachi 3: 6, and "Ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy" Leviticus 11:44. Our job is to help you recall God's word. In recalling His word, we can have hope.
We will not relinquish any of our duties in the Eastern Diocese but will take another step forward to help win people to the kingdom and help them live a life before God that is pleasing in His sight.
David and Doris have over 50 combined years of service in the ministry. We believe in living what we preach and teach and whatsoever we do, we do it heartily as unto the Lord and not unto men.
